Tutors
Background
The Department of Management and Marketing is recruiting tutors to assist with the teaching of subjects to be offered in 2010. Our subjects range across the fields of general management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Marketing, Operations Management and Organisation Studies. The majority of subjects are in the undergraduate area except for Organisational Fundamentals which is a postgraduate coursework subject. A list of 2009 subjects is available at Subject Information. Many of these subjects will also be taught in 2010 but there will be some updates to this list. Subjects listed on the Tutor database refer to 2010.
Responsibilities
As a tutor your responsibilities are to prepare and deliver eleven 50 minute tutorials per semester, in each subject in which you are tutoring. You will be available for one consultation hour each week, for each of your subjects, with possible extra consultation hours in swot vac. You will contribute to the marking of all assessments and enter marks on to the master spreadsheet for each of your subjects.
All tutors are expected to attend tutor training before their first semester of teaching.
Candidates
Applicants must be able to demonstrate appropriate academic background: normally we would expect an honours degree in commerce or business, with studies in the appropriate fields, or suitable postgraduate qualifications in those fields. Applicants must demonstrate good organisation, communication and presentation skills.
Duration
Tutors are required for the following periods in 2010:
Summer Semester: Monday 4 January - Friday 19 February 2010
Semester 1: Monday 1 March - Friday 28 May 2010
Semester 2: Monday 26 July - Friday 29 October 2010
Tutors will also be required to attend a Tutor Orientation session - details to be advised to successful tutor applicants.
