Professor Christian Homburg
Department Visits
Professor Christian Homburg made his first visit as a visiting Professorial Fellow of the Department of Management and Marketing in December 2007. Whilst in the Department, Professor Homburg conducts research jointly with our marketing academic staff. Professor Homburg also delivers workshops during his visits and provides mentoring and advice to both staff and PhD students.Profile
Christian Homburg was born 1962 in Gomadingen, Germany. He holds a Diploma in Mathematics and Business Administration from the University of Karlsruhe (1986) and a doctorate in Business Administration also from the University of Karlsruhe (1988). From 1989 to 1992 he worked for KSB AG, one of Germany’s largest machinery companies, serving as a director for strategic planning, marketing and management accounting. In 1995 he received his habilitation degree from the University of Mainz. After this he became Professor of Marketing at WHU Koblenz. He joined the University of Mannheim in 1999. Prof. Dr. Christian Homburg is currently serving as chair of the marketing department and as director of the Institute for Market-Oriented Management.His research interests include market-oriented management, customer relationship management and sales management. He has published in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and International Journal of Research in Marketing.
Professor Homburg is founder and chair of the Advisory Board of Professor Homburg & Partner. Since 1991, this company has been consulting on Marketing and Sales Management with major firms in Europe and USA including BASF, Bosch, Degussa, DaimlerChrysler, Deutsche Bank, Dresdner Bank, E.ON, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, Pfizer, Roche, RWE, Shell, Siemens, St.Gobain and ThyssenKrupp.
